do not bank here! my grandmother has dementia and she is on my account with me. she went on a crazy spending spree, so chase advised me to open a second checking account so that i could transfer funds over before the end of the day. the customer service rep that set me up with my account advised me to check my account by 8pm to be safe to make sure my account is positive. i checked at 8pm, my account was in the positive. i woke up this morning and my account is overdrafted with a $34 fee. i do not understand how chase can find it ethical to take advantage of people by waiting until 11;48pm eastern time to process a payment just so they can tack on a $34 fee. the payment was only $40 that was processed. so to allow a $34fee on a $40 payment is 85%. why am i having to pay 85% on a process that could have been avoided if the payment would have been processed two minutes later i would have had till the end of today to transfer funds. with my grandmother having dementia i cannot leave $40 in the account because her doctor advised me to limit her spending so she does not decide to leave the state, that is why chase advised me to open the second account. so here i sit with a $34 fee that i have to eat just because chase decided to sneak a payment in two minutes before the cut off. shady business i will be leaving work early to change banks.
