| - I've been living at Solara for about 6 months now, and for me, it works.
Pros:
1. Location (easy access to the freeway and downtown Mill avenue)
2. Frys and Walmart close by
3. Flat rate utilities (watch for hidden fees)
4. Nice surroundings and landscape. (I live near the Internet cafe, there are lots of big trees and grass areas)
5. White cabinets, grey counters, wood flooring, mirror closets, track lightening, European fixtures in kitchen. (Some units vary) * I pay $960 a month (not including renters insurance/Internet) for a 2 bed 2 bath. Price works great for me and my roommate.
6. Lots of friendly students and families.
7. Great amenities: Internet Cafe, Nice pools, Volleyball courts, Gym and Game Center.
8. Lots of On site Laundry (if you don't have one in your Unit, **costs extra)
9. No bug issue (sometimes nats, but every Wednesday you can call maintenance and have them exterminate for free)
10. Maintenance is great, and very fast.
Cons:
1. Hidden fees (wasn't up front about cost of flat rate utilities, ask questions before signing lease)
2. Pool has been under maintenance for well over a month and it's the middle of June. Not sure why they would decide to close down the main pool during summer...
3. Constant emails stating they temporarily will be shutting down water or a/c due to maintenance repairs. (Usually only down for a few hours at a time, I receive the emails almost once a week)
4. Not in control of A/C- *can control thermostat
5. Brick walls do NOT block out sound well. Pray you don't have noisy neighbors...
6. I appreciate the landscapers.. However, they are here around at 7am, almost every morning, and make lots of noise for hours. (Some days not so bad)
7. Not a real gated community. Gates open up as long as you pull forward enough. No gate code necessary.
8. Leasing office: The girls hate their job and their attitudes kinda suck. Harley is the most helpful and kind.
Overall, this place is great if you're young and looking for a nice/cheap place in Tempe!
