| - I brought my children here for their annual well-visit. We are in-network and they are all healthy so I didn't anticipate even a co-pay. However, a month later I received a bill for $220! When I called the office, the billing staff was completely unresponsive. I left a vm and never even heard back. When I called back a week later, I got serious attitude from the staff person. It turns out that if you mention anything at all in your review of systems, even if it is developmentally normal (eg. occ. bedwetting and nail biting in a 7 year old) they escalate the charges and treat the visit as a sick visit. OK, so there's $40 in copay right there. It's fraud in my opinion (and I am a physician) but the insurance company said that it wasn't worth fighting and that it's become such common practice to up charge everyone that even they just suck it up.
On top of that, they charged me for the difference between what the insurance paid and what they billed, even though we are in-network. The insurance company drew the line there and said that is wrong, and they are working it out with the office directly. However, in the meantime, I've received yet another bill for not only the balance difference for one child, but for the other child as well now, so we're up to $400 for 2 in-network, well-child visits. Again, I called, left a vm, waited a week, called again. The billing person had the nerve to tell me that she called me back yesterday and that I had missed the call. No, she didn't leave a voicemail and it's not in my caller ID, but she has it "in her notes."
The bottom line is that this practice is pinching pennies and hiring the rudest staff I have ever encountered. We will not be returning.
