| - As a business traveler, I've stayed at all the SPG properties in Charlotte and am kind of sad I only started staying at the Marriott towards the end of my project down in Charlotte. As a rather seasoned traveler at this point, I've stayed in my share of hotels and I've got to say, after the renovation last year, this property is impressive.
Staff - everyone has always been super nice to me - everytime I walk through the front doors, someone greets me with a smile and a "welcome back!"
Restaurant - Stoke is pretty legit for a restaurant in a hotel. The bar is fully stocked and has ample/comfortable seating for many.
Lounge - this is where it's at. I have elite platinum status, meaning I get free access to the lounge, and it's clutch. The breakfast in the morning is the best - fresh cut fruit, croissants, the best banana bread, coffee, snacks, drinks.... you name it. When you've got the munchies, the lounge has got you covered from jelly beans to rice krispies treats to gummy bears. Note - they use reusable glass bottles at this hotel, so you have to get your water in those bottles. They also serve dinner here, which though I have never had, have always heard good things.
Rooms - newly renovated and is the best out of all the "name brand" hotels in Uptown. The beds and pillows are always comfortable and the bathroom is bright and clean. If you get a staywell room on the 5th floor, you get fancy lighting and aromatherapy scents. Some rooms have a tub, but the ones with a full shower are the best. I've never really felt dirty in one of these rooms. Pro tip - get a room with an even number so you're facing away from Trade St, which sometimes can be loud with the bars across the street and traffic below.
Gym - best hotel gym EVER. Literally everything you need, minus a squat rack.
The Charlotte Marriott hotel is my top choice for hotels when it comes to traveling for business in Uptown.
