As an eager home cook, I absolutely love love love spices. When I travel the globe, local spices are what I buy as souvenirs. Since Vegas doesn't have Penzey's or Savory Spice shop, I was so happy to find Sheffield's! This cute little store has some pretty nice spices for baking, sauteeing, barbecuing and more. The ingredients are clearly spelled out on the label (watch out for spices with added sugar) and the blends are interesting and fun.
You can smell before you buy (super important to me) to check the freshness of the product. I always buy in small bags because old spices are the worst. If you buy smaller portions, you'll know your spices will still be fresh and strong and won't languish on your pantry shelf for years. Just say NO to old spices. Go dump all the junk out in your kitchen now and get to this store for fresh ones. You can thank me later!
The owners and employees don't seem to have a vast knowledge of cooking, but what they lack in culinary expertise they make up for in enthusiasm. You don't have to be a Michelin-starred chef to shop here; even beginners can pick up some unfamiliar spices to "kick it up a notch" in their home kitchen. If you are familiar with the more exotic spice varieties, you'll be in foodie heaven here.
Life's too short to eat plain chicken breasts; sprinkle on some fun, exotic spices and let your taste buds enjoy the ride.
