| - This is in regards to their immigration services:
I read an advertisement and decided to call them up because I utilizing the green card process for my family. All I wanted was for someone with experience and background in the immigration services just to LOOK AT MY DOCUMENTS BEFORE I SUBMITTED THEM--that's it. It would put me in a better piece of mind. We don't have money nor will to hire a lawyer for thousands of dollars to do that, so I thought I'd give this free service a try.
Calling for an appointment, I was on the phone for 45 MINUTES answering a variety of personal questions about my family and my "case"--I just wanted someone to look at my documents before I submitted them FYI I didn't need a lawyer. I told the girl on the phone this, the intern, and she didn't care. I stuck through it because I thought I had to, answering questions such as "What is your religion?" even (how is that legal to ask?)
I was contacted a week later telling me a lawyer would not be able to represent my case for reasons x, y, and z. Okay, I didn't need a lawyer to represent my case, again, I just wanted someone to look over my papers before I submitted them. Oh, the intern said (I call her the intern because that is how she introduced herself), no problem we can set up an appointment for that.
The day before the appointment the intern calls and cancels it, saying she thought it was okay but upon speaking with the lawyers that there is a legal liability to them if they look at my documents because I am not their "free client".
Helpful free service? I say pass unless you are extremely desperate.
