Open Wide is a good name for this dental office, because what they really want you to do is open your wallet wide so they can help themselves to your money or your insurance benefits. Just because a dental office is full of friendly and seemingly caring people does not mean they provide quality dental care with integrity. Sadly, that's the truth with Open Wide Dental, which in my opinion engages in the all-too-common practice of making diagnosis for dental care based only on the maximum that a patient's insurance will pay. To make a long story short, after spending nearly 3 hours in their office, my insurance paid hundreds of dollars for my visit, and I didn't even get a simple dental cleaning or a diagnosis of the problem with my molar (which was the original reason for my appointment). I got NOTHING OF VALUE AT ALL OUT OF MY VISIT! This office also advertises "state of the art" dentistry but in reality is able to offer no such thing, especially when it comes to dental x-rays which they perform with they dental equivalent of old snapshot film camera--a truly excruciating experience for patients. When I called their office a few days later to make a routine appointment for a dental cleaning I was told by the lead hygienist (in very polite terms) that they didn't even want my business unless I was willing to have all the dental service performed that my insurance would pay for, plus some out of pocket costs. And come to find out, the so-called dentist I saw at Open Wide is really just a flight attendant with a dental license who works part time at that office. I've initiated complaints with the state of Arizona and my insurance company over my experience with this office.
