  • Oh how I want to give a more positive review! I love the concept of Starving Artist, I love the look, I love the vibe, I even love the menu... But every visit has brought with it things that just irk me! Potato waffles? Great concept, poor execution. Kinda crumbly and dry, and not worth the novelty. Waffles Benny? Would have been tasty were it not for the runny, almost-but-not-quite cooked egg whites. Big turn off! Mediocre nachos? Well, they're mediocre nachos -- the very definition of 2 star! Factor in the often incredibly long waits -- that persists after you've been seated and ordered -- and I just have a hard time really recommending them to others. Does this mean I won't be back myself? Oh, no, I'm sure I'll be back... there's something about the place that just draws me in. On a positive note, let me add the following: Projector of old D movies (at night) and classic saturday morning cartoons (Smurfs!) in the morning makes for a very cool backdrop to a meal/drink/whatever. And, finally, their blueberry outmeal smoothie is ridiculous. Ridiculously good!
