Melanie did a bomb job on my balayage. 4 stars instead of 5 because the visit hit my wallet pretty hard. But you get what you pay for, right?
I found Melanie on instagram, and followed her for a bit before making an appointment. Her work is amazing. Book in advance because it's difficult to get an appointment with her.
I came in with some pictures from her instagram, and asked for something similar to be done. She asked me a few questions to clarify what kind of balayage I wanted (see tips below). I wanted a warm caramel--but she advised me that an ashier blonde would look nicer with my skin tone. She's the pro, so I just listened to her. She assured me that if I didn't like it, I could come back to get a toner put in. Service was efficient, friendly, and laid back.
Things you should know when you come in for balayage:
- Whether you want balayage, or balayage-ombre (the latter will have solid blond ends, whereas the former has some of your root colour seeping through)
- Where you want the colour to start. I opted for it to start a bit above my ears because my hair grows quickly.
The bottom line: I would absolutely recommend her to anyone. I'm not sure what happened to the other poster, but I had a good experience and my hair turned out great!
