  • I rarely spend the additional money to "treat" myself to a spa experience while on vacation because I feel the services are the same as to what I can get at home and are extremely overpriced, however reading the reviews about Spa Mandalay and thinking, "its time I just spoil myself, this one time...." I decided to book a half day. First, don't let the stars, lead you to believe my services were sub-par, they were not, however nothing over the top like I would experience at home. The two star rating is for the facility itself....it IS LOUD! My massage room shared a wall (I'm not sure with whom-maybe the mens spa lounge); during my entire massage where I wanted to be realaxed and chill, my experience was continually interrupted with loud conversations on the other side of the wall, followed by loud laughter, etc. It was disappointing. My therapist didn't say anything or try to find out the source to get them to stop, so I'm thinking this was her "normal" - I was very disappointed. It was then on to my facial. Same experience. The treatment room was located off of the large room where the hot tub, soaking pool, and cold water tub are located. It is a large room and it echoes. During my entire facial, all I could hear were women talking and laughing. Maybe it was lack of spa etiquette but I would expect the spa attendants to address the loud talking but they never did. My final was a scalp massage/Moroccan Oil Treatment and the room was located in the back and it was QUIET!! The only room were there was no noise. Another thing that was very disappointing is that the traditional services you receive with a facial such as a hand/foot massage or neck massage wasn't given to me and I wasn't sure why. However during my last treatment, my therapist told me that because I received multiple services that day, they don't like to give additional massages, etc if you already had a massage?!?!? I was very disappointed with this, "Why do you think I booked additional services?" So, my opinion is this, save your money and skip the spa. Or if you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, stop the treatment and asked to be moved to another room/area. I didn't want to cause a scene and do not blame my therapists/esthetician but I should have spoken up. For the amount of money I paid, I should have had an outstanding experience.
