It's surprisingly rare to visit a quality, family-owned pizza place in the Valley. Otto's was a favorite of mine from my first year in college to my last. They have the same family making the same great pizza. Menu items have shifted around a little but the premise stays the same-make great tasting pizza and do everything to satisfy your customers.
I've eaten mostly every type of pizza and a French Dip here. All of their pizzas are great. There isn't a long wait. I don't think they have bathrooms. They have good desserts if you're willing, but you'll probably be okay with the pizza. They have a self-serve refill station. Like every Arizona restaurant, water is free with ice, but they will cut your arms off if you fill that transparent cup with anything else. There are a lot of cute tables inside and a thin glass mirror that runs along the walls so you can see how much fatter you're getting with every bite.
This pizza is greasy but very tasty. If you're looking for a healthy pizza, you're misguided. Pizza is cheese on bread, a cholesterol-carb detonation sending shock waves into your thick thighs. Enjoy it. It's hot when it comes out of the oven and you may want to use the knife and fork that are provided. No one is looking down on you. Try Hawaiian for kicks, or stick to a tried and true Pep&Sausage. You won't go wrong!
I've been to Otto's over a dozen times. That little marketplace that it inhibits has many small wonders (and it breaks my heart that Eastside Records is no longer there because it used to be a killer 1-2 punch). But that doesn't mean I would avoid the area and miss Otto's. I always tipped and they're always sweet, willing to help. And carrying your dish back to the counter when you're finished is optional.
