| - So I am having a real problem with this review... Why? Because I don't go to Vegas to gamble, or for the shows, or to play. I go to Vegas for conferences and seminars... because they happen to be in Vegas, not because they are in Vegas.
The conference venue was the Bellagio. It is a stunning property, meticulously maintained, huge - there are towns in the United States and other places smaller than this one hotel - and busy. Most airports aren't as busy as the lobby of the Bellagio when I entered it. There was a *very* long line to check in.
In fairness, the staff was incredible getting people checked in. I probably waited no longer than five or ten minutes to get my turn and the clerk was friendly and efficient.
I was assigned a room on the 22nd floor of the Bellagio Tower and given instructions how to get there. This is when you really notice how big this place is... after a long trek through the casino main floor, dragging my luggage while fighting crowds of people, I arrived at an elevator lobby with express elevators dedicated to specific floor ranges, found the right elevator and made it to the 22nd floor - quickly. Up on the floor my room was another trek away from the elevators.
Upon entering my very standard two queen room I found myself in a place that Caesar myself would have found adequate - luxurious, large, very well laid out, a stunning view, and .... quiet. What a wonderful surprise. Probably the nicest hotel room I have been in, and I have stayed at five star properties in the US and Europe.
Back to the public spaces, the Bellagio has shopping of all types, restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries, pools, spas - it really is a luxury city. The personnel is just incredible... all of them courteous and friendly. The food served was outstanding.
Pros:
* Great room
* incredibly courteous and friendly people
* great venue, you never have to leave the place for anything
Cons:
* Way to large, too much walking to get from one place to another
o I got my workout without working out
* In room WiFi - if you bring a pc be prepared to have to reboot several times before you can get on (that is with help from the front desk) - once you are on you have all the bandwidth and reliability you can ask for - but it is a real pain
* Calling the front desk: You'll get a recording to hold, every time. It's like calling a call center
In closing, know why you are going and what you want to do. If Vegas is your thing I can't imagine a better place than the Bellagio. For me it's a love-hate thing.
