| - Ever consider shopping at Trader Joe's? It's not an expensive store like Whole Foods or like any specialty market. Honestly, my co-workers do not shop here, because they think the prices will not beat her local chain supermarket. I think it's a misconception that a lot people tend to have about TJs.
Anyhow, it's super hard to find reasonably priced, lean ground meat. Here at Trader's Joe's, they carry a variety and most importantly the 96% lean with only 4% fat for around $5/lb. Beats Sprouts, beats the nearby Smith's, who most of the time don't even carry it.
You can either purchase regular or organic here, the prices are usually a minimal difference.
Produce is sold at a flat rate, not by the pound and really competitive prices. Bananas are only $0.19/ pieces and they always carry ones where it's not overripe or just right. Sometimes, you can find what you want, but their produce changes constantly.
In general, you can expect to have great selection of chip, both salted and non-salted for the health conscious. You can find their Trader Joe's brand cheeses that are infused with their pesto, and in my opinion the best cheese they have to offer. Beautiful flowers, herbs and plants to greet you as you walk in and my mind starts racing on making center pieces for my dining room table. There's always a helpful personnel on the floor who's willing to walk a customer to the products that they're looking for.
Whatever season it may be, they always try to carry seasonal items. Whenever I'm hosting, this is always my to-go store. I feel good about purchasing heirlooms tomatoes that are readily available, inexpensive bags of apples for under $3, fresh baguette baked and delivered daily, a huge wine selection that will fit any budget.
I probably sound like a walking advertisement, but they're seriously awesome. The cashiers are always engaging, working with a smile and everything screams aloha including their company's outfit.
