| - Decided to stay at Hotel Zero 1 during a weekend trip to Montreal. The price ($108/night) & location were the deciding factor.
My boyfriend & I arrived shortly after 3pm. We parked our car behind the hotel, as we planned on using their valet parking during our stay ($26/night). That being said, the valet is not like any other hotel I've stayed at. You have to park your car in their designated street spots & they will take your keys upon check in. When you are checking out, call down well in advance for them to bring your car out.
Check in itself was seamless. We were given room 308, which I think was a "hip" room (slightly bigger than the "pop"). Fortunately this room was far away from the elevator, unfortunately it was facing the main street which is very loud. We were only in the hotel to shower/sleep so this did not bother us as much.
The room was the perfect size for the 2 of us. There was a fridge/microwave & storage space upon walking in. There was a small table with 2 chairs for dining, a queen sized bed & a tv. The bathroom had a shower, toilet & sink. All of the basic necessities we needed. As other reviewers have already said, the hotel is starting to show its age. Other than that, it was clean & quiet.
I would definitely stay at this hotel again. It was close to downtown, china town, old Montreal & the highway. I've read other reviews complaining about the characters they encountered in the area. This is somewhat expected from an urban area. We were not bothered by this, nor did we feel unsafe.
The location & price was perfect. Thanks for the great stay Hotel Zero 1!
