  • We recently moved into a different home. The house is almost 10 years old, and judging by the dust in the filter and air return, the previous owners probably never had the ducts cleaned. I also knew that probably meant that the dryer vent line was probably filthy as well, which scares me as I have personally known someone who has experienced a dryer lint fire. We decided to have Forever Vent come out as part of a Groupon deal. We were given a 4-hour window with a 30-minute heads-up. Michael and Ben called and showed up right on schedule and got straight to work. The Groupon deal involves them hooking up what is basically a giant vacuum to one of the vents and sucking out all of the loose dust and lint. It also apparently includes a general inspection of the A/C and heat units and air handling equipment. Fortunately, all of our equipment looked good (which I already suspected from our pre-purchase home inspection), but to no surprise... as they removed the vent covers they were covered in dust and lint. I expected this, as (one of the first things after moving in) I had replaced the air return filters and they were disgustingly filthy. After inspection, the dryer vent was equally filthy. To deep clean the ducts or dryer lines is an additional charge above the Groupon. I was aware of this when I scheduled the inspection, and expected that there would be more work required. Because I knew there was no way I was going to NOT clean the dryer vent and they made me a fair and competitive deal to clean all of air ducts at the same time, I authorized the full service (full duct cleaning and dryer vent cleaning). This process is more involved and requires them sealing each vent, and threading a rotary brush into each vent (one at a time) to mechanically clean all of the ducts while the giant vacuum sucks out the debris. They also scrub the vent covers. The guys stated that in the desert, this service should be performed about every 7 years. The service also comes with a 2-year warranty (although I admit I'm not sure how/why you would put in a claim). One last note... because we had just moved in, we had boxes and stuff EVERYWHERE. The guys said no problem, they just moved things as necessary to access the vents. All-in-all, the service took about 2 hours total for our 2-story (2,300 sq ft) home. We look forward to having cleaner air in our home. I would recommend Forever Vent and would use them again in the future.
