  • A previous reviewer's characterization of Herbs & Rye as "old style mixology" is wholly accurate. Seek out this local gem for the drinks, whether at the bar or in the dinning room. If you visit the latter, you will have the opportunity to peruse their historically inspired drink menu, which includes anecdotes and legends all the way back to the 1800s. This is a place you should feel entirely comfortable ordering the "Bartender's Choice," a beverage custom selected and mixed to your personality. Our waiter was discerning enough to recognize that my girlfriend did not have the fruity pallette of the usual Ladies' Night patron and brought her a proper whiskey drink. Appropriately, the hospitality matches the mixology, fostering an incredibly welcoming and appreciative atmosphere. Our waiter Christian, who some keen locals might recognize from Makers and Finders, not only remembered me from the coffee shop, but took extra care to present my girlfriend and I some of his favorite samples from both the drink and dinner menu. Let us not forget that Herbs & Rye is also a steakhouse. In the classically inspired environment with speakeasy decor, you will find your traditional, hearty butcher cuts even more savery. Herbs & Rye is a great place for locals to become regulars. When your friends visit to experience the Boulevard, keep this in your back pocket for a surprise, after they have exhausted themselves with our city's signature extravagance and request something unassuming, delectable, and welcoming.
