  • My wife and I brought our parents to visit this zoo before heading to Sturgeon Bay. We got here around noon and the parking lot was full. With some patience, we found someone leaving and got a prime parking spot in front of the entrance. We got a map from zoo staff and walked around to see the large mammals followed by the indoor exhibits. My personal favorite were the giraffes and the polar bears. For a free zoo, this is absolutely wonderful and nice place for families within the Madison city limits. Although I think Como zoo is probably the best in the Midwest, this is a close 2nd in my humble opinion. Plus, this zoo is making more upgrades with a badger to commemorate their state and university mascot. There is one downside for families which is no strollers inside the indoor exhibits. The zoo staff explained that they already had to replace several glass doors due to stroller collision with their doors.
