The salesperson (Anthony) tried to upsell me by pulling a fast one...not cool at all. To have this happen at a store next door to the Corporate Headquarters of Discount Tire made it even more surprising. What happened was that I walked in to pay for 4 new (higher priced) tires and when I was ready to pay, the salesperson rattled off everything I was being charged for before taking my card...and somewhere in there was something about roadside assistance, but I just assumed it came with the new tires, so it didn't alarm me until the salesperson told me the total price as he was ready to accept payment. It was around $200 more than the tires!!!, so the alarm went off. I did not ask for road side assistance coverage at any time, nor did he ever discuss it with me!!! He was attempting to sneak it in there and hope I wouldn't notice. I wonder how many people he had duped into paying for something they did not want at this store??? I told him I did not want to pay for any extras then he proceeded to explain how valuable the service would be if I had a blow out...blah blah blah, then proceeded to bargain with me by reducing the cost of the extra service. I said no thanks and that was that. I left the store thinking that I almost got scammed. Not something I ever expected to feel at Discount Tire. I got the survey from Discount Tire and completed it to let them know about my experience. To their credit, I got a personal note from the manager apologizing for the experience and promising to follow up with Anthony. I gave them another star for this. I did not expect to get a personal note from them. Well done - it shows that they take these things seriously and it's not the sleazy practice they want to be known for.
