| - If there was a zero star option, this place would get it. Will never, ever return here. If you want the quick summary: It's dirty, overpriced and the service was simple, utter crap.
I went to this GG location on a Saturday night, in a group of six girls. We all wanted to order a slice of cake and a tea, but of course, all the cake was sold out except for one flavour, which one of my friends ended up getting. She said it tasted ok (it was the key lime).
The drinks themselves were not bad - just nothing remarkable. That's would even be ok, though. What really killed me was the absolute shit service - oh, and that my friend saw a mouse run under a table from the kitchen. I can't verify her claim since I didn't see it myself, but I'm likely to agree after seeing the state that the bathroom was in.
We had to try several times to flag down the waitress. It was steady when we first got there, so we chalked it up to her just being a little preoccupied, but she ended up blatantly ignoring us several times throughout the night even after finally taking our order. Every other table had the complimentary bowl of popcorn. We only got it after asking - while waiting forever for our drinks - and it arrived half-full.
We sat there for a little over two hours, some of us still sipping our drinks and eating, when the waitress came over with our bill and said, "You can't sit here for three hours when there are people waiting. Here is your bill."
Um, excuse me?
I looked around me. EVERY single table around us was occupied by groups or couples that arrived before us and had card games going and laptops spread out. We saw people that didn't even have glasses or plates in front of them. Meanwhile, we're actually sitting there eating and talking but being told to leave? On top of that, there were exactly TWO people waiting to be seated (a couple) that wouldn't be seated at a large table like ours anyway.
I know a lot of places have a seating time limit, particularly on busy nights, but everyone knows you go to a bubble tea shop to basically hang out.
As if the possible mice infestation and the generally terrible service throughout the night wasn't enough, we were now being dismissed.
Ok, sure. We were annoyed enough to not argue it at this point anyway. We just wanted to pay and leave. It would be nice if our bill was actually correct so we could, you know, pay and just GTFO, but no such luck. The waitress actually was annoyed that we corrected her - my friend ordered a small drink and got charged for a large, while another friend didn't get her actual bill at all, just a duplicate print out of my bill instead.
Bottom line, we all felt really awkward from the minute we sat down. We should have just followed our instincts and ducked over to some other bubble tea joint considering there are lots to choose from. Green Grotto, Midland: your service is hideous, your floors need mopping and you have a possible vermin problem. Clean your act up!
