| - Having a Mercedes is nice, however, the larger than usual maintenance that comes with it, always isn't so nice. Enter DoctorBenz, a family owned, local repair shop that offers fair prices and friendly service.
My CLA250 was due for a Service A repair. The "stealership" wanted to charge me over $300 for the simple service, whereas DoctorBenz only wanted $175 for it. I immediately made an appointment the following day. Overall, everything went smoothly, and I was out and back on the road in just over an hour. However, this place is not perfect, and here is a breakdown of the pros and cons of DoctorBenz:
PROS
- Fast and friendly service. The receptionist was extremely pleasant to deal with and explained everything they were going to do with my car.
- Communication. This is huge for me. They called and texted me updates on my car.
- Did not try to nickel and dime me. I will need an air filter change, the wanted nearly $100 for it, so I'm opting to do it myself.
CONS
- I got a "Change Washer Fluid" notification on my car a few days after. I checked the Service A description and a fluid check and top up is included. I was disappointed that for $175, this was not provided to me.
- It's a local shop, so it isn't the most organized or clean. There were car parts, project cars, and various debris everywhere. The couch that is offered for you to sit on, is dirty, has lost all signs of cushion, and reminds me of the Casting Couch you see on adult films.
- Location is a bit difficult to find. It's near the back on a side road that has dozens of other body shops around.
- May be a con for some people, but if you pay with a debit or credit card, they will charge you a percentage of your bill.
OVERALL
Solid shop to get your work done for a lower cost, however, don't expect your experience to be fluffy like the dealerships. This is a drop your car off and use Uber to grab a lunch shop. You won't be greeted with coffee and refreshments, and that's just fine for me, I'm a simple man. I will definitely be back for my Service B unless there is another local Mercedes shop around.
