| - Nick's is my #1 all time favorite furniture store! I discovered it on accident as it's the only local brick-and-mortar furniture store that offers my favorite furniture brands, including Furniture of America and Home Elegance. Although I live close to dozens of huge furniture stores; eg: Thomasville, Ashley, Rob & Stucky, and Mors, I prefer Nick's for their selection and customer service. Furthermore, their prices beat all of the online retailers', including Wayfair, Overstock.com, and Amazon!
When we visited, we were greeted by a young man named Joe. He was very attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and didn't try out any high pressure used-car-lot sales tactics. His attitude was pretty much like "Hey, if you need something, I'll help ya out." He took the time to help me identify what I really wanted. We ended up buying a gorgeous blue velvet sofa, love-seat and chair from the Furniture of America Collection. All 3 cost less than what the sofa alone is listed for on Amazon! (And it currently has the best price out of all comparable websites.)
Later on, I ordered a nightstand and media console dresser for our guest room. Joe helped me out with the order. Again, the prices were incredible ($90 for the nightstand, $120 for the dresser). The same pieces cost 3 times more on Amazon and Wayfair.
There's a $70 flat delivery fee per order (even if your order contains multiple items), which seems reasonable, or customers can pick it up themselves for no charge. Our items arrived on the first day within the range that Joe stated they would be available. The driver called ahead and was super courteous. They also offer the option to assemble your furniture for a small fee (I believe it was only $20). In hindsight, although my orders involved minimal assembly, I would have chose that option because they remove the packing materials out of your house. (Try putting a dresser box in your recycle bin and you'll know what I mean.)
We went to the store on 16th St & McDowell. I'll be honest... It's not my favorite area of the city... But I found this store to surpass all the others I've been to. It's definitely worth the drive. Plus, I think it's important to support local business.
