Modern looking Chinese bakery with hot food!
Location/decor:
- The bakery is located on the south side of Elm Street and up a few stairs to the entrance of a brick building
- Inside, there a 5-6 small tables of 2-3 people that allows you to order and eat in.
- The interior is very modern and clean looking - kinda of reminds me of an espresso bar merged with a Chinese bakery
Food:
- Similar to other Chinese bakeries, there is an assortment of freshly made buns and tarts along with a full coffee bar
- However, there is a unique feature where you can order hot food items like steamed chicken and mushroom on rice, fried noodles and etc.
- I was here to grab a quick take-out for lunch and I ordered the the chicken fried rice. It took about 5-10 mins to be ready. When I arrived back, I thought the aluminum take out box was small but to my surprise it was actually dense and heavily packed with delicious fried rice. It was also super piping hot! The meal also came with HK milk tea which was the perfect complement to it. Rice was very tasty - a little bit more moist but that could have been due to the container but I didn't mind it at all.
I will have to come back to try the other hot items and buns but it is a good place to go for a Chinese bakery fix right in the downtown core.
