| - Dr. Swarup was okay as a doctor, but the office staff were acting like loan sharks, but he co-owns this practice, so there is a part of the blame on him.
I had my 10 week pregnancy check-up. Some desk girl calls me to sign a paper stating that I'll need to pay $2250 by week 28 or else they're going to stop caring for me and transfer to other clinic. And that payment doesn't include ultrasounds and other diagnostics, and bunch of other stuff. It bothers me a lot. And then I proceed to find out that my baby doesn't have a heartbeat.
I had a miscarriage and a D&C because of that with Dr. Swarup. I called Virginia, she was the contact for the surgery, asked her about the costs. She didn't give me any estimates citing different insurances billing differently. On the surgery day, I got a paper with $3200 I would owe for the D&C just from the hospital, not including bills from the doctor and the anesthesiologist. It made me really upset that Virginia didn't tell me even the estimate for associated costs; I know that Dr. Swarup does this procedure routinely. Nobody mentioned the costs, even Dr. Swarup. If I knew it will be so expensive, I could have looked at other options.
I came in for the follow-up after D&C, which was a part of a very traumatizing personal experience. Follow-up was included in the D&C costs which I don't even know yet. "You can't see the doctor until you pay your bill from your last visit," front desk girl tells me. Can't you have a little more compassion?! I just lost my pregnancy, you piece of crap! Then she leaves and comes back saying that "this time you can go, but not the next time".
Overall, I always had to wait for Dr. Swarup to show up for 30 mins or more. Nurses were moody and couldn't explain which cups to use to urine samples. Office girls never know if I need to do urine sample or not and advised me wrong many times. I'd think that if I pay this much for my healthcare, I'll at least get the quality.
When I called nurses and front desk, they were acting all arrogant. After I told the desk person that I can't do Monday, she kept insisting that I have to because Dr. Swarup is off the rest of the week. What about me, the patient, and my availability? You know, I have a life with responsibilities too. On-call nurses don't know anything, googling stuff is more accurate. When I called with my symptoms after D&C, nurse scared me so much with her "oh, that's highly unusual" remarks, but when I saw the doctor, it was all normal.
