  • Nightmare! As a Rented from this facility through Priceline for a decent price...but not at the $136 for one week that I thought I was paying. Upon signing the initial contract, I noticed in mouse type print at the bottom, I would be billed at $90 a day if I did not return the vehicle per the original contract. I asked right then about the clause and explained my vehicle was being repaired. She assured me if there were any changes outside the original contract, to simply call into a number she provided. She said if I did so before the car was due back, I would be needing the car longer-there would be no issue. She said at that time, they will make a note on my account and the dates will be adjusted in the computer to reflect the $23 rate I acquired from Priceline. I felt satisfied and left with the tiny car. When I received a call that my SUV would require additional time, I immediately called the number given me two days before the contract expiration and updated them. I explained I would most likely need the car at least another week or more. The agent I spoke with on the phone, said she would make a note in my file and it would not be a problem. When I returned the vehicle 11 days after the phone call- I was presented with an invoice that my card had been charged for $2,218.00. I struggled with math but knew the total did not come out to $23 a day. Even with taxes and surcharges. When I regained consciousness... I began explaining the series of events and phone calls that took place prior to this. After listening to me with complete indifference, Agent XXX slid the contract across the counter and smugly said, "but you signed this which states you agree to our charges." I gave her the name of the agent on the first and second call explaining there should be a note in my file that they agreed to extend the $23 a day rate. The agent glanced at her computer screen, then back at me and said, "That's truly unfortunate. You were misinformed. Our employees do not have the authority to change contractual verbiage for individual customer needs. That's why they're called contracts. If this is an issue for you, you will need to follow up with this number." She then proceeded to circle a phone number on a pamphlet and handed it to me and said, "next". I stood there momentarily as if I'd been Tasered. I called American Express the moment I got home and disputed the charges citing the entire ordeal. Absolutely the WORST experience with Hertz, to the point I would rent a donkey prior to doing business with them again.
