I followed Jay to LOLA from his previous post at Parlour salon just down the street. I had originally started going to him on a referral from a friend who had a similar hair dilemma as I: what to do with your hair when growing out a partially shaved head. I had been rocking the side shave for a few years but was over it and predicted the transition from a quarter inch of hair on one third of my head would be awkward. Though it was nearly a year-long process, Jay helped ease this awkwardness considerably. He also the chillest hair stylist I've ever been to. I don't like to have awkward chit-chat while I get my hair cut, and this has never once been my experience with Jay. Our conversations always feel relaxed and genuine. And I always leave with a great cut.
So, when I heard he had moved to open his own place with a partner, it was a no-brainer. LOLA has that same chilled out, genuine vibe that Jay himself embodies. Plus, everyone who works there is super talented and their products are thoughtfully selected and smell amazing. It really feels like they care about what they are doing and want everyone to leave knowing they have been taken care of.
