  • After reading all the reviews on Yelp, my husband and I decided to visit Barnes to design a custom ring for me. I brought in my one carat diamond wedding ring, my mother's vintage diamond wedding ring and a pendant with diamonds -wanting to use all pieces to make an extraordinary ring. We were immediately greeted by Casey. She seemed promising. She told us she was excited that we were open to new ideas and that she already knew what she wanted to design for my Marquis solitaire and other diamonds. She asked that we leave my jewelry for two weeks so that she may design 3 to 4 sketches for my review. I was uncomfortable leaving close to $10,000 worth of jewelry especially during the holidays but my husband and I were excited that she would create something spectacular. It took close to three weeks before I got a call from Casey to view the sketches. And boy was I disappointed! It look like she rushed and drew the sketches that day! She drew four little pictures on a piece of torn off scratch paper. I was expecting something more since my jewelry was there for close to three weeks. And the sketches turned out to be normal, ordinary wedding rings. I could have sketched those myself! She could tell I was not happy. She offered that I search the Internet and bring back some pictures for her to view. Really? I left my jewelry for three weeks so she could be creative and now she tells me to come back with some photos from the internet. She recommended that I walk around the shop to see if there were any rings that I would be interested in. In the meantime, I asked to have my watch battery changed. She said I had to pick it up the next day. I left the shop not finding anything. The next day, I picked up my watch and Casey would not even pay attention to me. She didn't even greet me or asked me if I brought back any pictures. This place is a big disappointment. If you want your jewelry repaired, clean (Casey never offered to clean my ring) or your watch battery changed, this probably would be the place. Maybe I just got the wrong person who really did not want to help me. My husband's not happy either as we've just wasted three weeks by leaving my jewelry there. That just did not make sense. Now I'm off to find another jeweler.
