Updated review: Michael (GM) contacted me and asked that I give The Thumb another try. My father and I visited there today. The restaurant was very busy with the lunch hour crowd as well as visitors. I met Michael and he provided us with a nice variety of food. Brisket, pulled pork and chicken. We also had collard greens, BBQ beans, Mexicorn and cornbread. Let me start with the meats. All were very good. Nice pink smoke rings on the brisket which was very moist and tender. The bark and the pull pork was excellent. The pulled chicken was was also very tasty. Overall the meats were very good. It's very obvious that there is a lot attention and love put in to smoking each of them. I wouldn't say it is the best I have ever eaten, but it is very good. I admit I'm a bit of a BBQ snob because I also smoke my own. By the number of people that were there The Thumb must be a favorite to many people. A tourist that I chatted with when we were leaving absolutely loved the food and will be coming back before she leaves. Now for the sides: The BBQ beans are awesome. With chunks of brisket and sausage the beans could be a meal all by themselves. Add some of the corn bread, which was also very moist with some honey butter on top. The mexicorn is very unique. Lightly charred, seasoned and I believe with aioli. It's excellent. Collard greens are not one of my favorites. My Dad however, loved them. He raved about the flavor. Being a southerner he know his greens. A little bit of sausage and bacon bits to give them a little smokey flavor. Overall the experience was wonderful. The entire place is very clean and inviting. Cheerful service is always appreciated and the The Thumb has a wonderful staff. Yes, I will be going back. I have already started my list of food to try. The cuban sandwich sounds really good.
