  • UNKNOWLEDGEABLE STAFF!!! My experience trying to by a cooktop here was just HORRIBLE. This was such a bad experience that it has led me to write my first review ever!! I went in earlier this week to purchase a 30 in stainless steel gas cooktop and was helped my April Torres in the appliance department. She showed me my options and we decided on one. After everything she found out that the manufacturer discontinued the item. So back to square one. I picked another model and began the process again. I'm about to sign and I noticed April had me set to buy a 36 in not a 30 in. Glad I caught it in time. She fixed the problem and proceeded with the transaction. She gave me a $50 discount for the inconvenience. She scheduled a delivery, measure, and install. When scheduling installation, Home Depot requires a person to measure the countertop before the installation. Well 4 days later the cooktop arrived at my home and a couple hours later a gentleman by the name of Marty came to measure. Just my luck it doesn't fit. Shouldn't the measurements be made before the customer gets the product for installation? Marty said that's normally how it's done and he doesn't know why Home Depot scheduled it that way. Now I need to take more days off work, to schedule a pickup of the wrong item so I can even get a refund, a delivery for the new item and another for installation. I feel that this could all be avoided if April Torres of Home Depot has a better grasp of how the process works or the products she's selling for that matter. Furthermore after leaving me for over an hour to discuss the issue with who I assume is her supervisor, she tells me that there is no other options that will fit my counter top. I showed her one that I found on my phone while I was patiently waiting and had to explain to her that the cooktop can be smaller just not larger than the cut out. She verified with the installer and they agreed with me. Needless to say I bought the cooktop I found and had to ask for the $50 discount from the previous order. I feel that should be a given if not more. I should have taken my business elsewhere but I've already invested this much time into it. On a brighter note, Randall her coworker was very nice while I waited and offered me water and a chair while I wait. He even joked and said "I hope she didn't forget about you". I wish he was there when I first came in. Sad to say customer service here is a hit or miss.
