When we first arrived here last fall we ended up walking by Broncos on several occasions. The big patio was inticing and on a stinking hot September day an obvious choice but the baseball game blaring on the sound system drove us away. Hey, we were new to Toronto and didn't know what these 'Blue Jays' were that everyone was losing their minds over. Plus, 'listening' to a baseball game loudly on a shit outdoor PA is a new form of auditory hell. We walked on.
But during the winter we had occation to be hanging with a larger group of folk and Broncos was the closest bar. We went in. And even though it is a sportsy bar, and even though it has a curiously inexplicable western theme, it was pretty great. The beer selction is good, the drink prices are reasonable and even the food is solid in a bar snacks way. Service is freindly, but not cloying.
We've been back a bunch of times since, and now that it is warm out the patio is perfect. A big plus is that they open at 3pm most weekdays (Friday-Sunday at noon). So in a town where a lot of places stick to that most protestant habit of opening at 5, only after everyone has put in a virtuously full-day of work, Broncos lets us be more the judge of just when the day's work is done.
