| - I paid rent today. I pay $980 for a one bed one bathroom + they charged me $50 for a pet fee. The property manager, Haunah?, called me on Tuesday January 14th, 2017 to scold me about dogs that were in my apartment. I let her know that there were no dogs here. She threatened to come look inside my apartment. I was half naked and home working - I told her to come right on up! She then proceeded to remind me that there are no dogs permitted in my apartment and how she went out on a limb for me and how she could have me evicted -again threatening me. NEVER ONCE did she bother to ask if they were service dogs, which they were. She proceeded to tell me she saw me walk my pit bull on Sunday -keep in mind she didn't call me when she saw me? also, neither animal was a PIT BULL. They are both ranch dogs.....whom live with 3 elementary school children & a mother who has survived cancer, currently is battling multiple sclerosis, and needs these animals. MAYBE THE MANAGER HERE NEEDS TO READ UP ON Arizona Service Dog Requirements & Discrimination: No public place that discriminates against pets may discriminate against service dogs. Service dog requirements in Arizona allow service dogs in all public areas. There are a few situations where service dogs may be discriminated against, which are if the animal poses a threat or burden to the area or public place in question.
Let me start fresh: PLEASE NOTE, I've never paid my rent late. I've never caused issues for the front office. I keep my apartment cleaner than it was when I moved in. I have only brought up one maintenance issue that required me to walk into the office. I personally requested maintenance to come up and quickly close my living-room window because it was storming outside. This was the first time I'd ever even opened this window. (01/12/17 @ 4pm) Apparently, a window that will not close in your apartment is NOT an urgent matter to this leasing agency. The leasing agent said he would take a note and let maintenance know the next day. Maintenance didn't come close my window until the next afternoon (01/13/17) around 2pm. He told me he could fix it but asked if I would want to open it again. What I thought, "Excuse me!? I believe I am paying a thousand dollars a month to live here for another 10 months, so YES, I would like to be able to open my living-room window." What I said, "Uhmmm, yes please?"
While he was here, I pointed out my leaky sink that I had requested a fix back in November & received a maintenance notice stating it was fixed. They did replace my molded and cracked showerhead, but my sink leaking had now caused warping and black mold under my sink. (I haven't used these underneath cabinets since I moved in 4 months ago!!) His reply, "Well that's the manager's decision and if it's not bad, all she'll tell me to do is bleach the wood . . ." as he shrugged his shoulders, "honestly." His reply astonished me. I looked at him with my mouth open and said, "So, I can live here and breathe in this mold and all your company does is put bleach on it?" He shrugged this off like it's no big deal. He then proceeded to offer to fix the sink and talk to the manager about the mold. Perfect!
NOPE! The next day is when the property manager called me about my sisters's dogs. I felt like I should've never asked for maintenance to come fix something. She was not only very belittling, but she threatened to have me evicted, as well as threatened to charge me a pet fee. I brought up my maintenance issues that were never tended to, making it a point that she called me 3 days after she said she saw me with dogs, but never ever bothered to fix issues in my apartment when I brought it to her attention? This same manager actually did my walk through with me and saw my patio door-frame fall off as we opened the door. She told me she would have it fixed that day & here we are 4 months later and she's barely sending the maintenance manager? ...I'm assuming it's only because I brought up the black mold that I took pictures of. When I first moved in, she didn't give me a garage door opener for three weeks. I had to go back in and request it, BUT they still charged me for a garage for the month!!! Never did I ever complain until now. Never did I have an issue until she told me that my sister couldn't come visit me FROM FLAGSTAFF if her dogs had to come.
PLEASE EDUCATE YOURSELF PEOPLE: YOU, as a tenant, have the right to live in an environment that is inhabitable, safe, and meets all applicable housing requirements/codes. It means that if water damage has encouraged infestation of mold or termites, your landlord will have to take necessary step to eradicate the issue. . . . .BUT WILL THEY? The front sidewalk gate has open access --- I've been followed through it, cursed at, and harassed by neighborhood hoodlums, BUT this property is more worried about a service dog in my house than some random stranger or possible rapist following me to my house???
