| - I decided to let some lenders compete so I typed my information into a web request form and hit submit.
Literally before I could stand up and walk away from my desk my phone rang. It was John Diehl from Wyndham Capital Mortgage. We talked for about an hour, and John answered all my questions. He was both knowledgeable and human, which made for a good experience.
About 5 minutes after we hung up, my phone rang again. I answered, and there was a long pause with typing--the sound of a call center. Then finally somebody responded to my repeated "hellos." She awkwardly introduced herself (it was another lender), asked me some questions, then asked me to hold while she transferred me to a loan rep. He eventually got on the line and was a nice guy, but just not smooth on the phone. And, frankly, having just hung up with Wyndham Capital Mortgage, I was comparing everything this other company's guy said to what John Diehl had said--and how he said it. Night and day difference.
So, even ignoring the meat of the loan discussion (rates, fees, etc.), from a customer experience standpoint Wyndham Capital Mortgage is way better than the other guys. I can only hope the other company's people I spoke with are new, because I can't imagine they'd last long.
Then let's talk the meat of the loan (rates, fees, etc.). Wyndham Capital Mortgage beat the socks off of everybody else. Not only that, but John Diehl and his team pushed and schmoozed and guided and called in favors and did everything else they needed to do to get us approved and funded--at an amazingly low rate and cost. Closing happened exactly on time and the title company said that everything went smoothly for them, too. Huge relief.
John Diehl and Wyndham Capital Mortgage got our business because of a fantastic first impression. And we will definitely refer our friends because of a fantastic last impression. So end-to-end they made the experience enjoyable.
