I really like the Bagels. I can smell and taste the freshness and it's only 60 cents - OK they're smaller than most Bagel chain places but at .60 you can get two! And I love the 24 hour format bucking the trend of a city where everything is closing earlier in recent years like a small town.
Between this and Tim Hortons or Raabba late at night, it's no contest. Those places just make generic bread in the shape of a Bagel, you can see it in the overly white and fluffy dough that tastes like an assembly-line packaged product you can get from a supermarket.
Bagel House may not be the most hardcore authentic Bagel - some might think it's not thick & chewy enough - certainly not ideal to use in Fondue (for which Bagel bread was invented) and the hint of sweetness means it doesn't pair well with everything - I can't imagine it with Liverwurst & Pate nor dipping into Goulash - but for a snack on the go, they're great.
Also tried the Chicken Knish & Pizza Kinsh. OK but nothing to write home about, but again it's nice to haver the option of hand-sized real food snack for about $2.
