  • My 5 year old son has been at this school since February 2016. He really enjoyed his teachers (especially Ms. Carmalita and Ms. Maria) and classmates, however, he came home every day telling me about "this kid bit me," "this kid hit me, or "this kid said bad words." It was pretty bad to see my kid with bite marks, and the most recent with scratches on his neck. He did what he was supposed to which is tell the teacher about incidents. My son, who is not perfect, also pushed and hit at times. The most recent, and sincerely the most heart breaking, incident happened on June 4, 2016. My son woke up that Friday morning and thought it was Saturday. Well, he still had to go to school. I told the ladies in the front office why he was grumpy that morning. I got a call at 4:00pm from the Director (Brandy) who said my son was throwing toys in the classroom and pitching a tantrum. I spoke to my son on the phone, then asked the Director if she had everything under control. She said, "yes, and he is coloring in the office now." When my son was returned to his classroom, he pitched the same fit. However, this time, he kicked, screamed, bit and hit at the Director. Come to find out, she was restraining my son. I don't quite know how long she restrained him for, but I got a call at 4:45pm that he was throwing a tantrum. I got to the school in 10 minutes. Upon my arrival, I saw the Director bear hugging my son in a chair. When she saw me, she let go of him and he sat down on the floor away from her. She announced to me, "He has been out of control this afternoon and he cannot come back." Mind you, this is 2 weeks away from his Pre-School Graduation. I was shell-shocked. I asked her, "Why didn't you ask me to come over here earlier than 4:45pm?" "You said you had this under control." She had ZERO answer for me. She was so shaken up that she honestly could not answer me. Another parent told her she was wrong to dismiss my son from the school because the kid was having a bad afternoon or even for throwing a bad tantrum. I went to the school the following Monday. The Director was not present, even though I told her we would discuss this on Monday. I met with the Assistant Director and Secretary about the situation. They refuse to allow my son to graduate, and still have NO answer as to why I was not called to pick him up if he was having a really bad tantrum. Neither person could answer to who authorized the Director to restrain my son without my knowledge. My son delivered apology notes for his behavior to the office. Unfortunately, I am filing a formal complaint against the Director for her lack of communication, knowledge of what is going on in her school and for not allowing my son to go through his Pre-School Graduation.
