  • Received a call from Dish representative that if I can switch from Direct TV to Dish and received a $200 gift card plus a fixed 2 year monthly fee. Since my contract with Direct TV was already completed, I figure I would try Dish. So I switched my service from Direct TV to Dish, instead of the cheaper monthly service, I got the more expensive package since I want to watch Formula one race. Pretty much the same as Direct TV. Now comes the fun part. My service started around Aug 28th, I send in my request for the $200 gift card right away, then received a letter in the mail sometime in Oct that they need a bill to prove that I am a Dish customer. I called Dish right away but Dish said that since I am so new a customer, the bill is not ready yet. However they stated that they can e-mail me a bill. So I called the gift card department who said that it would be fine, just print out the e-mail and send that in. So I send in the e-mail bill then follow through with another call a couple of weeks later. They said that they received it and everything is fine. Called later in Dec to see if they have mailed out the gift card yet, then was told that the gift card will be send out on Jan 24th and should wait about 10 business days to receive it. Not a problem so I waited and called them in middle of February since I have not received the gift card yet. Now I am told that the gift card was never sent because I had missed their 30 day dead line to submit the request. Now, I send in the request as soon as my service was hookup, received a response that I need to send in a bill (which Dish did not have since I am so new a customer), send in an e-mail bill as soon as Dish send it to me, was told everything was fine and wait for the gift card. I believe that Dish customers was never meant to get the gift card. It was a trick to get new customers, they never plan on giving out the gift card. Here is the best part, Dish said that it is another vender that is handling the gift card. Dish is not responsible for the gift card. What, the person called me saying that he is from Dish, the gift card is suppose to have Dish name on it, Dish is receiving payment from me every month for their service but Dish has nothing to do with this gift card promotion? Dish keeps promise that they will look into this however they have never called me for any update. I have called Dish 3 times so far however was promised a call back every time. Now I am stuck with a 2 year contract. If I cancel now, I need to pay a few hundred cancellation fee. I am just wondering if they just want to keep their customer for 2 years and don't care after that. I am really interested what they are going to say to keep me after my 2 year contract is up.
