I live very close to the new Chandler location and was ecstatic to see Pearl Sushi was opening on the corner. My husband and I eat out at least 4 times a week and we are big sushi fans.
We have been to the new Pearl more than half a dozen times since it opened. All of the employees seem really nice and have, in fact, made an effort to get to know us. The sushi is very good and there is a variety of options for people that may not want fish as well.
The purple and white color scheme goes along with their other restaurant in Old Town so you know you're in Pearl because the decor is the same. The music is usually at a nice level and you don't have to scream at your partner to be heard and the TV's are up high enough that they're not "in your face" if you don't want to stare at a TV.
They offer a special happy hour menu all day long which is really nice if you don't want to drop a small fortune for a sushi dinner. (I find some area sushi restaurants can be really pricey) The bar area is usually busy and we've noticed other couples that seem to be frequenting the place as much as we are so I'm sure Pearl will be in Chandler for a long time to come.
Things I personally recommend:
The Diablo (sounds super spicey but it's not, try it!)
Sunday's Taco Special= 50 cent mini tacos in 3 flavor choices.
The Chicken Karrage (spelling?) is a very good appetizer.
The Pulp Fiction martini is yummy.
I have to wonder what's up with the bad and mediocre reviews here, I think some of the other reviewers have alterior motives. That 1 star review looks like it was written on the week they opened their doors. In response to that reviewer, I have been waited on by the owner and I found her really down to earth and quite pleasant.
Bottom line, if you're looking for a nice sushi restaurant with good prices and a relaxed and unpretentious vibe you should definitely give Pearl a try.
