7 days ago I adopted a dog from the pound. My new little girl has been coughing and itching for a couple days so I knew she had kennel cough and probably some allergies and needed a round of antibiotics.
So I chose this place simply because it was around the corner from my house.
I called ahead of time to make sure they knew she had kennel cough so other dogs wouldn't be around her and to advise them she is very scared and a caution. I have been working with dogs for a very long time and wanted to give these guys the proper notification.
When I got there the girl at the front was very nice and appreciative of me letting them know about my dogs concerns so they could take the proper measures. I went directly into a room and she brought me the paperwork.
The room itself was nothing special. A terrible green color. No lights. And a old school fan on a little table to keep it cool.
So nothing pretty or fancy but it's for my dog not me. So whatever. I was happy to see when I came in that they sold science diet food as it's the best brand there is as far as prescription food goes. I could see their treatment room from my room and I was pleased to see some of the updated equipment I had hoped would be there if I were to ever need my dog treated for other things.
My two main problems aren't with the facility but with the technician and the doctor.
When the tech came in she hardly spoke. It was like she was afraid of me and my dog. I know my dog Is skiddish and scared because she just got out of the pound but why are you scared of me??
She hugged the wall as she came in making it extremely obvious she was very scared. Anyone who works with animals knows this will just make the situation worse and creates a environment where my dog can sense how scared she is and take advantage of that by natural instincts. She doesn't really seem like a good fit as a vet tech. She hardly asked me questions so I basically just told her what I wanted and what was wrong.
Then she left and came back wth the dr. I STILL do not know this woman's name. I have no idea who treated my dog today. She came in and did not introduce herself at all. She handed me a paper on allergy medication and explained the difference to me and then just started looking at my dog. I kept my dog calm and the whole thing went rather well. I got the antibiotics I came for and left with little stress done to my dog.
But the tech and the doctor seem to be lacking in general people skills. I actually enjoyed the doctor, her purple hair and relaxed manner with her tech made me feel like she would probably be a great boss but I was very disappointed with her lack of attention. I'd put her name on here but like I said, I sill don't even know her name.
Did this veterinarian provide me with what I wanted? Yes, but I would by far not say it was a 5 star experience.
