I recently had a surgery and overnight stay at Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital. I've never been in a place that was filled with supposed professionals that were so incompetent. Even though no post-op orders were present they removed me from the recovery area and took me to a private room. This is where the trouble started. They played the blame game about who lost the post-op orders and it took 2-3 hours for the situation to be corrected. They overloaded me with pain meds to "catch up" but only succeeded in giving me an upset stomach and a swimming head. After a few hours with many friends coming to visit I was controlling my morphine drip. It seemed finally things were ok. Until that night. While one friend visited, the nurses assistant walked me to the bathroom and left the room, never to return. At least three times during the night, the IV machine started beeping because it was low on fluid and it took multiple calls for the nurses to come. At one point I actually cut the machines off because no one had come for so long. I couldn't get any rest. Needless to say they screwed up breakfast and even discharge. When my surgeon asked me to stay a second night I told him I wouldn't spend one more second in there. Dr. Gill, my surgeon, was outstanding; but don't ever go to Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital. They may not kill you, but they won't take care of you either.
