| - We had a pretty bad experience shipping our car with AAA Anytime.
Before you give these guys any money, you should know these guys don't actually ship cars. They are a broker that contracts other people to ship cars for them. Once you pay them your deposit, they have no interest in assisting you at all.
Here is a rundown of our experience.
First, the shipping company picked up the car days later then expected (we were told they would pick up the car on Friday or Saturday and after a dozen call to both AAA Anythime and the actually shipping company, and my in-laws giving up their weekend to wait for someone to pick up our car, they did not end up showing up for the car until late Tuesday evening.).
Second, after the car had been in transit for a couple of days, we had been contacted by the shipping company and were told our car would be delivered on the following Sunday or Monday, the car was instead delivered at 6am on Saturday morning. We received no advanced warning and woke up at 8am with 10+ missed calls, voicemails and texts from the driver who had been waiting for us in a nearby parking lot for 2 hours.
Third, when we met the driver to pick up the car, it was raining and he was in a hurry to get on the road (as he had been waiting for us for over 2 hours). He did not give us a chance to inspect the car and instead made us sign the contract and said several times, that if there were any problems to call his company.
Fourth, the next day (Sunday) we discovered a pretty good sized dent in the roof and that the whole car was covered in scratches. It looked like the car was driven through some trees. On Monday morning I contacted the shipping company to talk to them about it, and was told that since I had signed the contract that there was nothing they could do. They did say they would look in to it and call me back. We have not heard from them. We did call back and were told again that because we signed the contract, they couldn't help us.
I can't blame them entirely because I should have insisted on inspecting the car before signing. But I felt bad that he had been waiting and he rushed and reassured us more then once that if there were any problems to call his company This whole process has left me with a bad taste in my month. I can't imagine wanting to ship my car again in the future. Once you consider the cost of shipping and repairs, it would be been much cheaper for us to just drive the vehicle out here ourselves.
There is no way I would ever do business with this company again.
