This review is from over the holidays. I was there to meet a group but had arrived early so I went to the bar to wait and have a drink. It took forever to get either bartenders' attention. They were busy but after watching them go back and forth; not stopping to greet or acknowledge me sitting there, I finally just got her attention. That was a little off putting, I know it was a busy night.
The atmosphere is definitely club meets sushi restaurant. They had a DJ that started about 830 or so. Know that it will be loud if you come here on a weekend. Fine with our group as we had booked our dinner with the intention of a place to have a little fun. We were seated in one of the back rooms which was nice to put a little distance from the music so we chat and catch up. Dinner was fantastic. Obviously there is a full sushi menu and other dishes. The Korean beef ribs were really good. I also had the black cod and it was well flavored and a good size portion. Everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner selections. Our server was great and kept up with the constant flow of drinks and champagne bottles being ordered. The owner made it a point to come to our table. She even sat with us for a bit and chatted. She walks around a lot talking to almost every table and chatting with regulars. She really seems like she wants to make sure everyone that comes to her restaurant has a good time, good food and good drinks.
We made our way back to the bar for after dinner drinks. I had a lychee martini-it was really good and strong. I am giving 4 stars because I think you never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression, and my initial experience at the bar wasn't the best. Overall a great night out and I definitely recommend it especially if you want to enjoy great food in a club like atmosphere. And I have always heard good things about Nikko's.
