Be upset about the prices. Be annoyed about not being able to bring in outside food and drinks anymore. Be irate about eating the worst pretzels you have ever had the misfortune of being exposed to. But don't overlook the $6 deal on weekend mornings. This review will focus only on the AMC 24 at 1140 on a Saturday.
The good:
- Saturdays and Sundays before 1200 movies are $6. It's an extra $2 for ETX and an extra $2 for 3D so if you have the misfortune of seeing Clash of the Titans 3D in ETX you will have wasted a full $10, which is still less than seeing it in a regular theater.
- Usually in the morning there is a 16 year old kid at the door who doesn't care if you bring Starbucks inside. If there is an old man at the door (he is there very occasionally) he will hassle you about it - but AMC doesn't sell coffee so Mike & I bring our Starbucks in anyways. (I am ashamed to admit that I drink Starbucks when I see movies here).
- The chairs are big and comfortable
- There is hardly ever more than 6 people at the theater before 1200
- Once we got $20 worth of free popcorn at Ironman II - it was badass.
The bad:
- ETX is too loud. It shakes the room and the speakers cannot handle the volume they crank it up to. I enjoy the ETX screen size, but they need to turn it down, and not just a little bit.
- I feel bitter when I have to pay $2 extra for ETX. I would probably never choose to see something this way so I feel like they should actually discount my $6 ticket to $4 if I have to bring my own earplugs.
- It is always too cold in this building.
- The concession prices are ridiculous.
In summary, I try to get here once or twice a month for a $6 movie and I bring my own snacks. I would not pay full price to see a film here nor would I ever punish myself with another one of their pretzels of failure when there is a pretzelmaker in the basement of this building. That is a high quality pretzel.
