  • Seeking to do something a little different, seven friends and I went to Escape Capers to try our hands at escaping from Maxim's Dinner Party. The majority of us (myself included) had never been to an escape room before. I wasn't really sure what to expect, but from the minute we got their expectations were exceeded. The room it's self was set up really well and it felt "real". There were tons of tasks to be completed and the 8 of us were busy the whole time. No 1 or 2 people "carried" the team - there were many different things to do/figure out so everyone was contributing. There were some really cool special touches too (no spoilers!). Having the host in the room was extremely beneficial as she prevented us from wasting too much of our time. We ended up escaping (woo hoo!) and we all agreed it was a great time. So much so, in fact, that we decided to go back the following weekend and try our hand at the Chamber of the Mysterati. This one was REALLY HARD! We survived - but barely. Got out with 30 seconds to spare! If you're going to be attempting this room, it's definitely beneficial to have the maxium number of players (8). This room was awesome as well, although I preferred the dinner party - mostly because there were more number puzzles in this room and those aren't really my thing. Escape Capers has now ignited an "escape room" enthusiasm amongst my friends and I - my only fear is that we did the best rooms in the city first! I can't wait til they have more rooms for us to try.
