  • After seeing a particular rise in the number of scorpions indoors, this past summer, we thought it might be a good idea to find a reliable pest service company to assist in the matter. After reviewing many services through Yelp, we found one, not only with high reviews, but was conveniently located in the West Valley. In order to get the ball rolling and obtain a quote, I started by having a look at their website which was well designed and had lots of information on the services they provided, payments they took, etc. I started communicating with them via email and they were quick to respond and answer any questions I had about their services or scheduling service. Their emails were friendly, not pressuring in any way, and wasn't short or felt rushed. After a couple back and forth emails, I decided to schedule service. I called, left a message, and they returned the call immediately. They accommodated me within 2 days of calling - called on a Wednesday, and was able to schedule service on the Friday of the same week, with a two-hour time frame. On the day of service, the technician wasn't late and came well within the time window that was given. To my surprise, the technician turned out to be the owner himself - Mr. Irish Doherty, which he said wasn't a surprise because he does actually work some of the routes himself. He explained that he liked to interact with his customers and even new customers as myself. Further, if I chose to continue service, the chances of seeing him again, working the route, was highly likely. I thought that that was real dedication to the work and service he provided. I appreciated that he was available to come out because he certainly explained everything in more detail, it was like a science lesson which really kept me intrigued. He seemed to really have a passion, and great depth of knowledge, for what he did and listening to the way he talked about all these critters -- how they come into our homes, what food sources they're looking for, how long they live, why they come into our homes, what kills them and what doesn't and why it doesn't, the advantage/disadvantages of one pesticide over another, etc. A couple features I really liked about this company is that they don't offer contractual service -- if after one treatment, you don't like them, you can certainly tell them to take a hike. Another feature is they offer an organic treatment as well as your traditional treatment. The former was particularly interesting to me because, not only is it better for the environment, but also from my research it seems like it's more effective toward ridding yourself of these critters. The owner also confirmed that most of his customers prefer the organic treatment over the traditional. His customers have nothing but good and positive things to say about the organic optioned find it more effective at eliminating their pest issues. Organic is $119 versus $99 for the traditional option. Another option that they offer, which I liked - if you need them to come out after a treatment, they will return an unlimited number of times. With that being said, there was no deciding for me, and I settled for the organic option. The fact that it's better for the environment, better for the pets (not that the traditional option wasn't), more effective, prior customer's ratings, and the smell (which I'll explain in a minute). I can attest to the organic option being really effective, because when he was spraying, I couldn't help but notice the crickets were dying within a 3-5 second span - a couple jumps and they then kicked the bucket! The smell of the organic, for me, is divine! I could sit outside, or sit in the garage, and smell it all day. It's like smelling Vicks Vapor Rub. I found it to be very calming and it really opened up my sinuses. Apparently the organic option consists of peppermint, vanilla, and (I believe) rosemary, and mineral oils. Granted, some will be turned off by the smell which is why the owner provided a small cap sample to smell first before we chose that option. We have 3 cats and a dog and they too didn't seem to mind the smell of it and weren't affected in any way. Throughout the spraying process, the owner walked and sprayed every inch of the yard, the garage, and inside of the house. He really did take his job seriously and prided himself on attention to detail, making sure to cover every nook and cranny outside and inside. His sprayer had more nozzles and covered wider swaths of the wall and sides of the house. Professionalism and courtesy was also top notch indoors, making sure to cover his work shoes, asking if he could go into certain rooms or when to go upstairs. I have been so pleased by their service that I will be continuing, and I will probably be signing up for other services like their termite treatment service, not that I have an issue with termites currently, but as they say, prevention is better than cure.
