| - My wife, mother-in-law (97 years old), sister-in-law, and myself visited the Saguaro Lake Guest Ranch from May 24-26, 2018 (Memorial Day weekend). The location is absolutely beautiful with tall mountain peaks directly behind the Ranch and the Salt River flowing within 100 yds. of the entrance with all the abundant green foliage that surrounds a river system present--it makes a wonderful first impression. The Ranch is rustic and the cabins/rooms are comfortable but not posh by any means. There are no TV's or radios in the rooms; but there is a big screen TV in the main lodge building. There are no hairdryers, microwaves, and in many/most cases no refrigerators in the rooms and none of the rooms have kitchenettes. All of the rooms had A/C. We stayed in Cabin #10 Poolside. There are three areas: Poolside, Palm Circle, and Riverside. John Bevell (resident manager) mentioned to me that Cabin #10 was the only 2 bedroom cabin with a living room; the other 2 bedroom cabins are exactly that--2 bedrooms. Cabin #10 did have a refrigerator in the room; it would have been nice to have had a microwave also. The Ranch is a B&B and they serve a good breakfast in the morning from 8-9am; lunch and dinner are on your own and they provide a list of restaurants in the area where you can eat. They will provide a box lunch on request and at an additional cost. The Ranch provides kayaking on the River at a cost of approx. $45 for a 2 hr. guided trip down river. The Ranch also has easy access to fishing in the River and there are other access points off property as well. Make sure that you have a Tonto Pass in addition to your AZ fishing license--the area requires both and the Ranch sells the Pass. The Ranch has a swimming pool which I used on 2 occasions; some of the pool chairs in the area could use a cleaning but all-in-all it served its purpose and was relatively clean, inviting and cooling. You will need to bring a cooler and dry store food if you expect to eat in your room as there are no utinsils, pots, pans, etc. We took a cooler with drinks, lunch meats, bread, wine, paper plates, etc. and that worked out fine with the breakfast in the morning and going to the Lakefront Restaurant at Saguaro Lake for dinner--10 minutes from the Ranch. Everything being said, we had a wonderful 2 day stay at the Ranch. We found the Ranch staff to be courteous, extremely helpful, and responsive to our requests. The rustic conditions and lack of a TV and other "city distractions" were perfect for the visit and let us focus more on games, conversation, and the beauty of the Ranch. We will return! I would give the Ranch a solid 3+ rating.
