I had a Groupon for a keratin treatment at "Ryan on Scollard", the experience was fine and Ryan was very friendly and welcoming. The only real complaint I have is that the fine print mentions "some additional fees may apply depending on length and texture" but he did not mention this to me on any previous communication when I was booking the appointment; he didn't ask me anything about my hair before I arrived day of. Once I arrived he asked if I "read the fine print" which I had, but the information offered no specifics on these mysterious fees...he went on the quote me $43.00 because of my hair length (just below my shoulders) which is almost half of what I paid for the Groupon. This aspect of my visit was very off putting as it seemed sneaky to add such a large sum to a service when the fine print doesn't mention any specific price details.
I would go back to Ryan again, because I did like the salon and he was a nice guy, but he should be more up front from the beginning of booking an appointment of what the cost is really going to be. I get Groupons all the time and know the tax + tip routine (which is completely reasonable) but it isn't right to assume clients understand that "additional fees" could be an extra 50% of what you even paid for the service.
