  • We've been to Holy Angels once (2014) and twice (2015). All of the older reviews are right on the mark. This place is amazing in terms of quality of food, ambiance (yinzer++) and speed of food delivery. There seem to be as many people coming to pick up food (pre-order is evidently a big deal for takeout) as those dining in the basement room, family style. We've always stayed to eat and had an interesting conversation with total strangers. "Twice in 2015" you might ask, reflects the first time that we rolled in around 6:15pm only to be told that they were out of fish. Sigh. So we came back the next week at 5:30pm. Interestingly that when we mentioned this to one of the Holy Angels ladies, she said, that they sometimes have to stop taking orders since they honor all of the phone orders even though they have to turn away eat-in customers. All in all this is the best Lenten fish fry that we've had, including some in Greenfield, Shadyside, Bloomfield, just to name a few. Worth the drive out of the city.
