| - Really can't believe all the 5-star reviews for this place (and neither should you, considering how many are posted by 1-review wonders).
Our experience here was definitely not 5-star, far from it. We only worked with Amy, who was pleasant enough and seemed to know her craft, but customer service just isn't a priority in this place.
Case in point, the salon is a very decentralized mess. Everyone has their own appointments and their own payment arrangement, i.e. cash only, Square or what have you. I get that stations are rented and that's how it is, but this is without a doubt the worst implementation I have seen. Why not at least centralize the payment scheme and the scheduling like every other civilized salon? To compliment this chaos, when we first started coming here, there was only one gal working the front, and by working I mean making an effort not to make eye contact or be helpful in any way, shape or form aside from answering the phones. People in the waiting area and walking in the door were pretty much invisible. Don't ask if we have an appointment or have any check in process, maybe notify the stylist or something, that's too much to ask. Nope, the customer just needs to sit down, shut up and wait, apparently. And, despite having the easiest job in the place, the receptionist never cracked a smile or made any attempt to warmly greet, much less interact, with anyone. Do people not realize first impressions matter? I get that we have an appointment and it's pretty much money in the bank after we walk in and sit down, but at least humor us and pretend you give a damn about our patronage. Smiles are free, right?
Furthermore, the lack of central scheduling and communication between the front desk and the stylists causes the customers to waste valuable time when a stylist is running behind. And since this happened each and every time with our stylist, it would have been nice to get a phone call or at the very least, have someone up front give us a heads up when we came in. Instead, consistent with the general approach, you just sit down and wait your turn, with no idea how long it will be. Got plans to be somewhere else after your appointment? Or maybe your time is more valuable than the stylists? Too bad, so sad, apparently.
Last but not least, I have to mention that on our last visit, while waiting the longest we have ever had to wait, we noticed that the front desk person was apparently replaced by some older lady. Astonishingly, while she never said one word to us or anyone else in the lobby the entire 45 minutes we waited past the appointment time, she made it a point to chit chat with half the stylists in the vicinity. Joking, laughing, walking around, shooting the breeze. Phone ringing? Screw it, she let it ring every time. Customers walking in? Nope, screw them too, they can sit down and wait. This went on the entire time we were there. This lady is paid to work the front desk and spent, at most, maybe five minutes sitting there in the hour we were in there. Absolutely unreal.
To put icing on the cake, when our stylist was freed up, she grabs another customer who arrived after us and walked back with them instead! We got up to walk out, which we should have done much earlier, but then she suddenly returns with the other customer and acknowledges the mix up. I'm sorry but after repeat visits, you don't know who your customer is? I'm sorry if you're running behind so badly that your next two appointments are queued up in the waiting area, but taking the wrong one back first is tantamount to giving us the finger on top of the wait. Apology for the wait? Nope. Discount? Not a chance. Still asking how much we want to give for a tip? Of course!
I get it, that as a salon you have an established customer base and bookings out the nose. That's great, but have some modesty and treat folks with some modicum of respect, rather than acting like your shit don't stink and you don't need the business. We took ours elsewhere and will not be coming back. And, true to form, nobody, including the stylist, seems to have noticed that we never returned.
If you value your time and want to be treated with even a shred of respect for choosing to patronize an establishment, you should probably look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you're looking to be ignored when you walk in, treated like crap and to waste your time because neither your stylist nor the salon can manage their own, this is the place for you.
