You know you hear about shady mechanics all the time but this place is ridiculous. We are a blue collar family so when we have mechanical issues with our vehicles it can really hurt our budget so I really try to learn and do as much work on our vehicles as I can. Recently I took my pick up truck in to have a tire plugged when I found that I had a rather large screw sticking out of it. Not knowing whether it'll be cheaper for me to plug the tire on my own or have someone else do it, I took in to have it priced. The guy behind the counter instead of telling me a flat price he tells me that he'll have someone take a look at it? This takes 30 mins to do......... When the man comes back he's got a print out estimate in his hand. He tells me that he has a guy plugging my tire and that there will be no charge. However my right front shock is in serious need of being replaced and is bleeding fluid out. (which it was) When he hands me the estimate there is a quote saying that it will cost me around $315 and that it is a very fair offer that is competitive within $40 of what most shops will do the same job for. A little irritated that I'm going to have to spend the money on two new shocks (it has to be done in pairs) I look at the estimate and see that the labor is going to cost more than the parts and tax by about $230 I'm pretty sure I can get my neighbor and friend that was a mechanic to show me how to do it myself. I paid $70 and got a lifetime warranty on the two of them at the AutoZ store right up the street and I realize that it only takes 30mins 6 screws combined and $230 to change those 6 screws.
