  • I would like to share my recent experience dining at this establishment. To give you a bit of background, I found Matt's Big Breakfast off Yelp months ago and my sister and I visited the location they have in downtown Phoenix. I read the reviews and although most people spoke about the long wait time, but how worth it to still visit, was definitely something worth trying out. I absolutely fell IN LOVE with the breakfast that I had (salami scramble w/cheese, side of sausage and home fries ...bomb.com) I've visited that location twice and never had a problem. Recently I was visiting my sister in the East Valley of Phoenix and she began craving Matt's Big Breakfast. I said, Ok...let's do it. To my surprise they have a new location that opened up about 10 months ago (I was told) and we were excited about trying it out. Here are the Pro's and Con's: Pro's: This location is much bigger than the location downtown. I loved the scenery, the waterfall and the outside seating. I absolutely love the open kitchen which allows you to watch your food being made. Our server Michelle was AMAZING (more details about her in a bit). Con's: We were served our drinks in plastic cups and not glasses like everyone else. My sister elected to order the Steak and Eggs breakfast, but she could not because they ran out of steak. It would have been nice to know this information when we were given our menus to look over. It's on the menu, so how come you don't have it available for a customer to purchase? She then selected home fries, cheesy eggs and 3 pancakes. She did not like the pancakes. I again ordered my usual, salami scramble with home fries and side of sausage. My home fries came out cold. I asked the waiter if they could give me some more and they used a top broiler of some kind to heat it up because they do not have a microwave. When our server Michelle came by to ask how our food was, I told her that it was just alright, nothing special. After telling her what was wrong, she immediately took my plate away without further request and had them remake the whole meal. She explained to me that my happiness is what matters to her and that is what I call some damn good customer service. When my plate arrived, my potatoes were hot, cheese melted on my salami scramble. That remake, but most importantly her eagerness to satisfy me is what allowed me to give this place a 2 star. I hoped that my experience would have been better because this location is close to my job and I would have planned to visit more. Would I go again, probably not. I would travel to the downtown location if I ever crave Matt's again. I hope that one day I can update my review with something much better for this location if I do visit again They seem to be new and getting things together so I won't bash them for that. I wish them the best and hope it gets better.
