rev:text	One the best places to walk or bike in the Phoenix metro and located near the library it is an awesome place to spend the day. The nature is incredible and there is a lot to see. In the summer as you probably know, it can get very hot and dry so always bring water. On days of 100 and over I recommend postponing coming here until it cools down considerably. More details in the paragraph below. Also to respond to Bo R.'s negative review, that as a photographer I find it fairly easy enough to photograph. Yes some area's are blocked off at certain points and yes some of the ponds are un-watered, but these things are done intentionally as to act as natural fences and in the case of the water, to regulate where the water is going based on the bird's migration patterns and habitats. In other words when the birds migrate, the ponds water level's are adjusted. The people in charge very meticulously manage such things. I also have noticed several quality shooting locations throughout the preserve and anyone can find them if they have the will to look. On the subject of the animals, they are very good photography subjects by themselves. In addition the rabbits are an indigenous species to the area and are in their natural habitat. Both the cottontail and jackrabbits that populate the area are found in desert riparian habitats all across the state Also the loss of burrowing owls from a nature standpoint is an unfortunate consequence of building the preserve in a suburban community, from a photography standpoint is insignificant, as the owls rarely come out, are nocturnal and are hard to photograph. Essentially, it is unlikely you would have photographed them anyways. Other birds like ducks, geese, hummingbirds, cranes, herons, many duck species, wrens and more are common and easy to photograph. Also the reserve is first and foremost a nature preserve, so they take saving threatened and endangered species as their greatest concern. I hope you reconsider your opinion about the preserve. As it is and has been one of my favorite places in the city. It is a refreshing break from the concrete and asphalt i am forced to see daily.
