  • Found this place by doing a Yelp search near my work. Saw that they had really positive reviews and set up an appt during lunchtime the following day. Pep Boys told me I had to replace the front struts and rear shocks or else I would have to replace all four tires within 1K miles. They told me the tires were wearing incorrectly. Imagine my surprise when I talked to the Back to Basic Automotive guy after looking at my car (for free) and he said there was no problem - get it balanced - and that the tires looked brand new (have 30K + miles on them). No shocks, no struts, no upsell, no charge. Fantastic! Highly recommend since it is impossible to find a reliable mechanic.
